Charles Crawford Napper
A native of Bedford County born September 16, 1948 graduated from Central High School in 1968. He had been employed at Fly Manufactory Company and later at Airseal Incorporated. Inducted into the Army September 5, 1968. He received his training at Fort Campbell, Ky. And Fort Knox, Ky. His tour of duty began on February 13, 1969. Causality was on November 7, 1969 in Binh Long, South Vietnam. Hostile ground causality, artillery, rocket, or mortar. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p. m. at Gowen-Smith Chapel with burial at Willow Mount Cemetery. He received the Bronze Star and 2 Purple Hearts Medal one on May 11 and the other May 28, 1969 for his actions in Vietnam.
